MAKING A DIFFERENCE FOR THE MAYA SINCE 2003

What Started as a Dream

What started as a dream 20 years ago to educate Maya females has evolved to having 63 scholarship students currently enrolled. In 2003 we had enough money to provide two students to middle school. Today we have over 150 graduates.  Completed projects range from remodeling elementary schools to school computer labs to medical equipment. Many more development opportunities are around the corner.

Our Areas of Focus

By taking a holistic approach, Amigos de Guatemala provides a hand up not a hand out.

Middle and high school scholarships are the foundation of our program. Free education ends with the sixth grade. Completed projects include a student library, classrooms, and computer labs to elevate the learning experience.

Medical programs, like vision, dental, and mental health provide a better quality of life for individuals. Medical equipment and professional training support healthcare for the all.

A community garden provides food for single mothers and the elderly. Economic development, like the future water purification system, will employ local women with proceeds used to fund their own scholarships and projects.

In every society, people from marginalized and disadvantaged groups deserve an education, health, and community support that expands opportunity, guarantees quality, and achieves equitable results.
